Md. Anirul Islam

Md. Anirul Islam (b. 11 January 1986) is a contemporary Indian visual artist based in New Delhi. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Jamia Millia Islamia (2013) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Aligarh Muslim University (2011). His artistic practice spans painting, clay modelling, and mixed-media, reflecting a strong foundation in traditional techniques alongside contemporary visual expression. Anirul has exhibited his work extensively across India, including a solo exhibition, "Coexistence of Past and Present" (2025), at the India International Centre Annexe, New Delhi, and numerous prestigious group exhibitions organized by AIFACS, Lalit Kala Akademi, and other leading institutions. He is the recipient of several notable honours, including the 96th Annual AIFACS Cash Award (2023), the All India Art Competition & Exhibition Award (2024), and the Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India (2011–12). In addition to his studio practice, Anirul serves as a drawing teacher at the Library of Rashtrapati Bhavan and has been invited as a judge for several national art competitions organized by government institutions. Through his artistic practice and dedication to art education, he continues to make a significant contribution to the contemporary Indian art scene.
